The National African-American Homeschoolers Alliance is a nonsectarian networking and informational organization serving the national African-American and international Black home schooling community. Launched in January 2003, the National African-American Homeschoolers Alliance seeks to empower parents with the tools to home school their children well by providing the largest and most comprehensive online database of home schooling, supplemental and educational information for African-American and Black homeschoolers worldwide.

The National African-American Homeschoolers Alliance gained a national and international membership of more than 450 families in its first year online and was featured on national and international television, in national and international magazines and in newspapers across the country.

Membership is FREE to all families. The National African-American Homeschoolers Alliance pledges that for the duration of its organization's existence, no monetary fees will ever be required for membership.

Initiatives
Limiting Television: Currently, the general African-American community watches 21.5 more hours of television than any other group in America. The National African-American Homeschoolers Alliance believes that excess television consumption in the African-American community will, in some cases, hinder optimal educational development and achievement of nationally-based standards. The NAAHA, therefore, encourages all African-American home schooling families to cut their television viewing in half.

Site Services and Benefits
NAAHA provides the largest online database of educational information for African-American homeschoolers. The site is an easy-to-navigate information portal that includes comprehensive home schooling information focusing on both Afrocentric and mainstream information, weblinks, webtools, books and curricula. NAAHA also provides personal advisory assistance from professional educators and home schooling mentor families.

Coalition of Advisors
The National African-American Homeschoolers Alliance has formed a coalition of educational advisors who are willing to volunteer their time and talents to improve the African-American home schooling community. Each advisor, all with specific and individualized expertise, answers questions posed by homeschoolers via e-mail. NAAHA provides this as a free service. NAAHA actively seeks additional advisors on an ongoing basis. Currently we have 12 advisors ranging from curriculum and literacy advisors to unschooling and math and science advisors.

Coalition of State Liaisons
We boast State Liaisons in select states that serve as informational resources on the state level. Each state has different homeschooling laws, therefore, our State Liaisons help to provide the necessary information and resources for homeschooling families in their state.
